It is hard to believe that we are already in the month of April. The school year has flown by quickly. The end of the school year will be here before we know it. We have continued to stress the importance of getting our school work completed and turned in to the best of our student's abilities. We have many different activities happening during the month of April so please check those out when you have some free time. Below are some of our other happenings as well as opportunities we continue to provide throughout the school year.
State Testing Dates:
Please mark your calendars for the upcoming state testing dates. State testing for the 7th, 8th and 11th graders will take place on April 3rd, 15th and 17th respectively. These assessments are crucial for evaluating our students' progress and ensuring that our school continues to provide high-quality education. We encourage all students to come prepared and do their best. We will continue to offer free breakfast and ask that students get a good breakfast prior to testing. We will also be offering snacks throughout the day to keep energy levels up. Also, a letter did get sent home for the 7th, 8th and 11th graders who will be testing. The letter has information about specific tests given as well as a calendar of specific test dates.
Graduation:
High school graduation will take place on Saturday, May 18th at 2:00 at the Armory. This is an exciting time for our Seniors and their families. Please join us in this great celebration of their accomplishments.
Important Reminders:
Friday Morning Breakfast Club: This is an opportunity that is provided by the school to assist students with getting assignments caught up. It can also be used for behavior issues as well as attendance and tardies. FMBC goes from 8:00 am to 11:00 am. The dates for the spring semester are stated below:
April 19th/May 3rd/ May 17th
Parents Involved in Education Meeting: We value the involvement of parents in our school community. If you are interested in volunteering for upcoming events or committees, please contact our Parent-Involved in Education (PIE) for more information. We have monthly meetings and look forward to hearing your insight into your son or daughter's learning. Our next meeting is Wednesday, April 10th at 5:00 pm.
Spring Weather: With the arrival of spring, please ensure your child comes to school prepared for changing weather conditions. Layers are key as temperatures fluctuate throughout the day. In the vent of school closures or delays, notifications will be sent via our school communication channels.
School Reminders:
Attendance:
We understand there are days when students do miss school. It is important that your son or daughter attends school to get the academic information they need in order to receive credit and an understanding of the classes they are in. If a student misses class 12 times in a semester for a variety of reasons, including excused and unexcused in a semester, he/she will be deemed to not have sufficient seat time in the affected class(es) in order to obtain credit. A grade of "F" can potentially be given for the affected class(es).
Tardies
: Chronic tardiness is an issue and something that we take seriously. Tardies are a distraction to the class. Teachers may have their own policy when it comes to their classroom and the consequences for it. For the office, a student who is tardy five times per semester will be assigned to Friday Morning Breakfast Club and must complete assignments appropriate for the loss of class instruction.
Grades
: Most importantly, students will do better if they stay up on their school work, complete their homework and refrain from having missing assignments. By staying current on their school work, this will enable them to be successful and have a positive school year.
Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in your son and/or daughter's education. We look forward to a successful month ahead filled with learning, growth, and exceptional experiences.
